We’ve been learning quite a bit as newbie parents and the one new thing we’ve recently learned is to never attempt a pumpkin patch visit on a mid-afternoon weekend, no matter how early in October it is.
Our first visit to Tanaka Farms was last Sunday, at almost noon. Big mistake. It took us almost 30 minutes in the parking lot to decide that it was too crowded and that we needed to turn back and go home. It took another 30 minutes to make a u-turn and head out.
Our second attempt at Tanaka Farms was quite the success. Still a weekend (this morning actually), but a very early Saturday morning. The farm opened at 9AM but we were in the parking lot, rip roaring ready to go at 8:45AM. And from a photographer’s perspective, it was amazing – foggy and empty. It cast a gloomy look onto the pumpkin patch, which was quite fitting for Halloween.
One of my favorite holiday shoots thus far…but of course, I’m biased (wink, wink)!
Here’s an extra from a Halloween event I photographed last night, at the SOCO Fall Fest!
Happy Halloween!! XO
