Desert DeLight » A Palm Springs Family Portrait

13 years ago, I fell head over heels in love with the California desert landscape.  Coming from back East, I had never experienced anything like it.  The neutral light, the vastness of the land and the quiet of the desert drew me in and I have been sucked in ever since.  I have been lucky enough to experience the lifestyle – from visiting the nightlife, enjoying the adventure and hiking, traveling to places beyond that of the Palm Springs boundaries, and photographing weddings, events and portraits there.

“We need deep cleansing of our thoughts on and often so that we can recharge our energy for our own health, happiness and purpose.” ― Kishore Bansal

Every single time I pick up my camera, I am captivated by the light of the desert.  There is something about it that is so different than the light I experience during my golden hours sessions back at home.  I can’t seem to explain it but there is something soul-cleansing, refreshing, calm and invigorating about the desert light.  While I do love the light back at home, I am absolutely obsessed with the light in the desert.

I am so thankful for this family who flew into the desert from Minnesota to play with me in this gorgeous place!  XO
